The Equus 3100a activates a vehicle's On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system to retrieve stored numeric codes or Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) to help pinpoint problems.
The Equus 3100a OBD II Code Reader is designed to work on all OBD II compliant vehicles. All 1996 and newer vehicles (cars and light trucks) sold in the United States are OBD II compliant.
NOTE: Federal law requires that all 1996 and newer cars and light trucks sold in the United States must be OBD II compliant
and can be used with this tool this includes all Domestic, Asian and European vehicles.
1. Plug It In
Each Equus code reader easily plugs into a connector found on your vehicle. Once plugged in, it activates a vehicle’s OBD System to send its stored diagnostic information.
2. Read Fault Codes
A vehicle’s stored diagnostic information is transmitted through a series of numeric codes via pulsing sequences on an LED or a vehicle’s "Check Engine" light. Our OBD II unit uses an LCD to display the codes.
3. Pinpoint Problems
Each retrieved numeric code represents a problem within the vehicle. With the included manual you can define each diagnostic trouble code to help you identify the problem.

Auto-Monitoring function periodically retrieves the latest code and I/M readiness status from a vehicle’s computer. This gives the user the ability to verify if the repair was completed properly and see if all the Monitors completed their diagnostic testing.
ERASE button clears stored computer codes, Monitor status and turns off "Check Engine" warning lamp.
Includes a 6-foot removable and serviceable Data Link Connector (DLC) cable
